Welcome!

Welcome to the Pitt Family Blog. In this day and age of easy communication, it seems like keeping in touch is harder than ever. We hope that this can be a place where we can share fun and interesting stories about our family and where you can see our favorite pictures.

5 months

We didn't intend to wait a whole month to post to the blog - life just got in the way.  Logan keeps on growing and growing.  At his 4 month pediatrician visit, about 3 weeks ago, Logan weighed in at 16 pounds 6 ounces and measured 25 1/2 inches long.  He definitely is more than that now.  He's wearing 9 month clothes, and even some of those are a bit small.

Logan hates being on his tummy.  When we lay him on his tummy, he just sits and fusses.  He's rolled over a couple of times, but since he hates being on his tummy, he's not really good at it yet.  Instead, when he's on his back, he'll roll to the side, get to the point where he could just cross over to his tummy, then roll back.

Vocalizations are pretty constant and he's varying his sounds.  He's gone through the "ahhh" phase and has done the "babababa" phase.  Now he's blowing raspberries all the time - he sounds like a motorboat.  He also does this funny pigeon-like sound.  The first time he did it we thought there was a bird in the house.   He doesn't do the pigeon thing very much, so we haven't been able to catch that on video, but the motor boat sound he does pretty regularly.

There's not much more that can make you smile than to hear the sound of a child laughing.  You just can't help it.  Here's some video of Logan loving attention from Mom.  Just try not to smile.

Logan has begun eating from a spoon.  He didn't take right to it the first time, but now he is a pro.  Today we discovered that he LOVES applesauce.  He would squeal in between each bite, saying "hurry up with that spoon!  Give it to me NOW!"  We've only tried the applesauce, bananas, and squash.  He's eaten all of it without resistance.

A neighbor of ours has a farm and several years ago they started a Halloween activity, the Pumpkin Walk, which has become a whole Cache Valley activity.  People volunteer to make a booth with pumpkins decorated according to the theme of the year. This year the theme was animation; Toy Story, the Peanuts, etc.  Of course Logan didn't appreciate it, but his parents sure had a ball.  They had some cut-outs where you can put your face in the holes and take pictures.   Pretty darn cute.

Since Logan was about 6 weeks old, Dad would pack Logan in the Baby Bjorn front pack and go hiking on the trail behind the house.  He used to fall asleep really quickly, but as he's gotten older and more aware of his surroundings, he stays awake longer and longer watching the scenery.   As he dangles off of Dad's chest, the legs are kicking back and forth and he'll let out an occasional squeal.  As it's cooling down, we bought some foot warmers to put in his shoes.  The last couple of weeks it's been in the upper 30's when we head out.

A couple of weeks ago was our 4-year anniversary.  We went to the Olive Garden for dinner and took Logan with us.  We took his Bumbo chair to sit on the table.  We know he's an adorable kid, but good grief, if we wanted any privacy for our anniversary, we certainly didn't get it.  We had our two servers who were constantly commenting on how cute he is, but then it started spreading across the restaurant.  The manager came over to "talk" to Logan and make sure we were happy (mind  you he didn't stop at any tables near us), then servers from across the restaurant came by because they "heard they needed to go check out the cute baby."  Finally one of the chefs came out of the kitchen and said she was told to come check out the cut little boy.  Don't get us wrong, we're proud of our little boy.

Now that Fall is here, it is getting gorgeous with all the changing leaves.  We went out yesterday to get some shots with the foliage.
